ALP
A liver and bone enzyme.

A typical adult ALP range is about 40–130 U/L. A high ALP comes from the liver and bile ducts or from bone; GGT helps tell the source apart.
| Finding | Likely source |
|---|---|
| High ALP + high GGT | Liver / bile ducts |
| High ALP + normal GGT | Bone (healing fracture, vitamin D deficiency, Paget disease) |
| Children, teenagers, pregnancy | Physiologic rise (growth, placenta) |
